2013 RHP Matt Hardy has made his college choice and will be attending Nova Southeastern University in the fall of 2013. Matt has been with the Elite Squad program since he was 16u and has pitched in some huge games over the years. At the 16u level Matt picked up a win during pool play rounds at the WWBA (East Cobb) and then pitched inspirationally in the final four, after finding out his grandfather had passed away the night before. Matt’s performance allowed his team to advance to the championship game where they were crowned Perfect Game WWBA Champions.
This year at the 17u level Matt, had a few great performances but none stick out more what he did the 2nd night at the PG World Series in Peoria Az. Matt took the mound against the EvoShield Canes, a team made up of some of the best players in the Mid-Atlantic part of the country and favorites to advance deep in the tournament. Matt pitched a scoreless 4 innings of 2 hit baseball to lead his team to victory after his Squad lost was upset earlier in the day. When things looked to be going downhill during that tournament Matt was able to turn the tide and got them rolling with that huge win. Hardy came back three days later to pitch 2 innings in relief in the Championship game of what would be his 2nd straight year of receiving a ring while playing with Elite.
On behalf of the Elite Squad organization we would like to congratulate Matt and the Hardy family on this very well deserved and special accomplishment!
