The 2014 Prospect Camp is officially over and its a bittersweet time for the Elite Squad Staff. A large majority of our Summer Rosters are hand picked from this Prospect Camp.
The best way to describe the Elite Squad Prospect Camp is like Christmas for Elite Squad and College Coaches. Pure enjoyment watching all the new talent that arrived at Nova Southeastern University to work out in front of them. Then, when its over you get that same feeling you do on December 26th wishing you can do it all over again.
Thats exactly how our staff feels. Wishing we can watch the 300 + talented players that attended go through work out and play in the games one more time in hopes of something standing out or making it easier to make the decision between one very talented player vs another very talented player. Their is no magic solution or formula. You go with what the eyes and gut tells you about a player. What you think he can bring to the team and what type of player he will become over the next 6 months for us, and then the next six years for a college or professional team. There are players that we will be spot on about, and their are players that we miss on. Some that had great weekends and some that had weekends where they under performed to their actual capabilities.
For the next few weeks, with help from the college coaches Elite Squad Baseball will try and put together their rosters for the 2015 summer. The talented players are going to make our jobs that much tougher but we would be lying if we said we weren’t excited to see how the pieces all fit when its done.
Check back in January when the rosters are unvield on our website to see what players will be representing The Squad in the summer of 2015!
