2017 1B Alex Toral has committed to the University of Miami!!!
Alex has been in our program since he was 14 years old and spent this past summer playing up at the 17u level with the 17u Prime coached by Alan Kunkel and Randy Snodgrass. Although he’s one of the youngest players, he is looked upon by his peers as one of the teams emotional leaders on the field. This year he was a big reason for the magical run the 17u Prime had in the WWBA Playoffs in Atlanta Georgia earlier this month.
In the first round of the playoffs down by 2 runs in the 5th inning Alex hit a 3 run home run that would secure his teams win moving them on to the round of 32. The very next day, in the final four round down by 1 run in the bottom of the 7th inning Alex hit the game tying home run to force that game into extra innings. Since he’s been a part of our program his presence has been felt not only for what he does at the plate but also the intangibles he brings to every team with his leadership and competitiveness every day. We cant wait to see him in the green and orange along with so many of his teammates.
Toral finishes the summer hitting .340 avg, .560 Slug, and an OPS of 1.004.
Congratulations to Alex and the Toral family!!!
